In addition to reviewing the manuscript for grammar, punctuation, usage and typographical errors, I help an author to look at his manuscript with the following questions in mind: Does my work have the right tone for my target audience? Are there sections that might be confusing to the reader, or are repetitive? Is the work logically organized? Are chapter headings, subheadings, etc. consistent in form?

I believe an author's unique voice is important; any changes made should still reflect that unique voice.

I am an experienced, versatile, thorough book manuscript copyeditor, and have worked with many BAIPA authors.  The genres I specialize in are: business, novels, memoirs, spirituality, science fiction, academic subjects, and children's books.  In a manuscript, I am concerned with grammar and punctuation, accuracy and clarity, consistency of tone, tense, and mood, and logical organization of ideas.

I am also a copywriter, with research and interviewing skills.  I write Web site copy, magazine profiles and feature stories, promotional material and blog posts.

Marin Bookworks
Are you planning to publish a book? I design and produce books for publishers and authors who decide to publish themselves. Since it's never too soon to start planning, give me a call at 415-460-1959 or send me an email at jfbookman@gmail.com for a complimentary 30 minute consultation. Then head over to my blog at www.TheBookDesigner.com for free articles, downloads and discussion on self-publishing, book design and the indie publishing life.
