Transgender Ministry: Opportunities and Challenges

This workshop, facilitated by the Rev. Margaret Rodrigues (they/them), is part of the afternoon program of "Re-Membering and Re-Making Community", the Diocese of Toronto's Outreach & Advocacy Conference 2021.

This workshop will identify the growing needs in our Diocese for expanding our ministry to trans people, their families, and allies.  What opportunities are opening up across the Anglican Church of Canada, what demands are growing in our diocese, and how can we best respond to these needs over the next few years in a post-COVID world?

The Rev. Margaret (Michael) Rodrigues (they/them) is an Honorary Assistant at St. John's, West Toronto, and the coordinator of transgender ministry in the Diocese. They were ordained in 2011 and have since earned a Master of Theology focussing on the spiritual journey of trans people They will be assisted in the workshop by several trans Anglicans with unique perspectives to share.
