Hatteras Island Oyster Roast
Saturday, March 1, 2014
2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Oden's Dock
Gather around the fire with us at Oden’s Dock for an old-fashioned oyster roast. We’ll have fresh, local oysters on hand, along with beer and other non-alcoholic refreshments. Hear live music from a local band, “Dragonfly” and enjoy good company among federation staff, board members and volunteers. An oyster roast for the coast!
This event is planned to take place outdoors, so please dress accordingly. In the case of inclement weather, the event will take place at the Hatteras Village Fire Station.
Hatteras Island Oyster Roast tickets are $15 per person and include all-you-can-eat oysters. Tickets are available for purchase (non-refundable) at the federation’s Manteo Office or on Hatteras Island at Oden’s Dock, Dancing Turtle Coffee Shop, Midgett Realty and Hatteras Sol Deli.
Scheduled road construction on NC 12 in the Village of Frisco will close the highway beginning 7pm Friday, February 28. Beach driving will be permitted for 4-wheel drive access and off-road vehicles between ramps 45 and 49. For those without access to a four wheel drive vehicle, Dare County Emergency Management has arranged for shuttle service from the north and south sides of the construction site. On Saturday, March 1 and Sunday, March 2 from 7 AM to 7 PM, Dare County Transportation and Dare County Schools will provide service from the Cape Hatteras Secondary School of Coastal Studies in Buxton (on the north end) and from the Frisco Bath House Parking Area (on the south side). On Saturday, the vans will also provide service at Oden's Dock in Hatteras. The shuttle will pick passengers up from each location and drop them near the construction site where the Department of Transportation will provide a temporary walkover for access to the other side.
An additional thank you to Midgett Realty, Dare County, National Park Service and NC DOT, this event wouldn't be possible without their coordination efforts.
