2020 Biennial Member Meeting 

Join the Norwegian-American Historical Association on Saturday, Oct. 24, for its 2020 Biennial Member Meeting. 

Erika K. Jackson ERIKA K. JACKSON will give this year's keynote presentation, called "Becoming White: The Case for Scandinavians in Chicago." An associate professor of history at Colorado Mesa University, Jackson teaches courses on immigration, race and ethnicity, and other aspects of modern U.S. history. She is the author of Scandinavians in Chicago: The Origins of White Privilege in Modern America (University of Illinois Press, 2019), which explores whiteness and ethnicity in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The presentation will be moderated by NAHA Editor Anna M. Peterson.  

BIENNIAL MEETING SCHEDULE 

  • 10:30 a.m. Keynote presentation by Erika K. Jackson, "Becoming White: The Case of Scandinavians in Chicago," followed by a short break.
  • 11:30 Biennial Member Meeting, which includes updates from staff and election of new board members. An agenda and election information will be available on our website the week prior to the meeting.
