Blogging is a great way to promote your expertise and gain new business and clients. Studies show that companies with blogs on their websites get significantly more traffic and leads than those that don’t. The instructor will present case studies of bloggers and business owners as examples of how to blog successfully. Participants will leave with a list of actions that achieve results. This is not a technical class on how to set up a blog; however, there will be time for discussion on the various hosting options for blogs. Who should attend: Entrepreneurs who are thinking about blogging and business owners who already have a blog. Both will get insights and helpful tips. |
Here’s what participants will learn:
- The elements of a good blog and how to find their writing “voice.”
- How to develop a mission statement and content ideas for their blog.
- How to use social media platforms, e-newsletters and search engine optimization to drive traffic to their blog.
- How to make money by blogging.
About the guest speaker: Jane Sutter is a SCORE volunteer and an award-winning journalist with more than 30 years of experience in writing, editing, blogging and managing at newspapers, magazines and web sites. She earned master’s and bachelor’s degrees from the University of Missouri Journalism School. She spent 13 years in top leadership roles at the Democrat and Chronicle in Rochester, including as managing editor and deputy editorial page editor. Her career includes stints as a reporter or editor in Iowa, Illinois, South Carolina and Florida. Her business, Sutter Communications, provides a variety of services, including writing, editing, public relations and book publishing. Jane’s book, Sutter’s Sodas Satisfy: A Memoir of 90 Years of Sutter Drug Co., was published in 2015. Workshop Fee:
$29 (includes continental breakfast) payment made through PayPal (PayPal account not required), must have a credit/debit card (Mastercard, Visa, American Express or Discover).
