Description: This workshop will focus on the questions most frequently asked by entrepreneurs when starting a small business. We will review necessary characteristics of entrepreneurs and the elements that have been shown to contribute to their success. We will then cover the most common start-up alternatives (including advantages and disadvantages), ranging from starting a new business from scratch through purchasing a franchise. The seminar will also explore the most popular types of business formations (i.e., Sole Proprietorship, Partnership, Limited Liability Company (LLC), and Corporation), including the advantages and disadvantages of each.
The workshop will also summarize the fundamentals of a business plan, including marketing and financial plans. Finally, we will briefly review the essential ingredients of cash management, so important to small business survival, and explore available sources of funds with which to launch and sustain your endeavor.
This workshop is designed to be interactive, allowing attendees to obtain expert advice regarding many of their most important start-up concerns.
Presenter Bio: Bill Litchman is an experienced SCORE counselor and former strategic planning consultant with a global business background. Bill has been preparing business plans for decades for small, medium, large, and start-up firms. His understanding of the many financing options has helped him write successful business plans, used to secure critical funding for numerous new businesses.
