Developing a Strategic Marketing Plan

A Seminar from SCORE

Marketing is an essential part of every small business plan. Learn how to develop a strategic marketing plan to make efficient use of your limited resources (time and money).

DescriptionA successful market plan begins by setting goals and objectives for your small business – then taking the steps necessary to take you there. The first step of the process is to develop a deep understanding of several key elements of your marketplace: 1) market size, growth, characteristics, trends, issues, etc., 2) customers (who they are, how your product or service addresses their needs, how they get information about products/services like yours), 3) competitors (who they are, what they offer, how they market to your prospects, how you compare to them) 4) environment (any regulatory or economic issues you need to be aware of and plan for), and 5) yourself (your personal goals, skill sets, and capabilities).

This interactive workshop explains how to set your small business goals, then shows you how to develop the roadmap to reach these objectives. Along the way, you will learn how techniques such as market research, segmentation, and target marketing can focus your efforts to maximize every small business’ limited resources (time and money).

Finally, you will learn about marketing’s 4P’s (price, place, promotion, product), and then how to develop key messages that will effectively communicate your sustainable competitive advantage.
