StartSMART is a powerful blend of intensive classroom training, personalized mentoring, financial guidance, and professional networking — dedicated to helping you develop a detailed strategic plan and hone your business management skills as an entrepreneur or business owner. 

I. Classroom Training

Attend five 3-hour sessions of instruction and interaction with small business experts who share key concepts and hands-on strategies you can apply immediately to your business:

II. Personal Business Mentors & Finance Counselors

Tap into the expertise of your personal SCORE mentor throughout the StartSMART series and beyond, for one-on-one guidance and support tailored to your business. They'll help you navigate the business planning process to ultimately make an informed “go/no-go” business decision. You’ll also learn about financing options and how to prepare to meet with lenders or investors.

III. Peer Networking 

Learn and grow from the advice and experience of StartSMART participants, many of whom are successful entrepreneurs.  Sharing ideas, business challenges and industry contacts will provide added support throughout the program and enhance your professional network.

IV. A Business Start-up or Growth Plan

Upon completion of the StartSMART program, you’ll have a strategic plan of action to start, grow or improve your business that you can implement immediately. The training and mentoring will guide you in creating a powerful business plan containing all the critical elements and financials to be funding-ready and provide you with a detailed roadmap to success.
