PRESENTERS 
H. Steven Moffic, MD and Randall Levin, MD, FACEP-Life will share their thoughts on burnout as a systemic problem that afflicts clinicians who feel themselves trapped in systems that do not seem to honor—and may actively impede—their professional ethical responsibility to care for patients. 

Doctor Moffic, recipient of APA’s 2016 APA Administrative Psychiatry Award, retired from clinical work and his tenured professorship at the Medical College of Wisconsin in 2012. He continues to write, present, and serve on boards. His special areas of interest include ethics, culture, and burnout. He is among the 18 psychiatrists selected to serve on the American Psychiatric Association's ad-hoc Workgroup on Psychiatrist Well-being and Burnout. The group was formed to help facilitate APA’s focus on well-being and burnout by addressing the areas of data, education, resources and communications. The group is working through APA administration and with Councils, Committees and other experts, and is coordinating efforts with the work of allied organizations, including AMA, AAMC, ACGME and NAS to address the issue. 

Doctor Levin, FACEP-Life, a graduate of the Medical College of Wisconsin, practiced Emergency Medicine for 28 years in Milwaukee before retiring from active clinical practice 2005.  While clinically practicing full-time, he held many leadership roles. Since 2013, Dr. Levin continues to serve as a member on his Hospital’s Ethics Committee and the physician satisfaction work group. He recently served on the Wisconsin Medical Society’s Ethics Council Committee and is presently a member on the Society’s Physicians Experience Task Force. Dr. Levin has been an active member of the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) since 1977, and a member of the ACEP Wellness Section,
