CEO Webinar - Serving People with Highly Stigmatized Convictions

Date: Wednesday, August 19, 2020
Time: 12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m. EST
Length: 1 hour
Location:
Online webinar
Presenters:
Christine Kidd, National Director of Program Innovation, Center for Employment Opportunities and a related subject matter expert

As more New Yorkers become aware of mass incarceration, the stigma of a criminal conviction has changed. Many convictions, however, still carry significant stigma and workforce professionals should be prepared to help people overcome that stigma and find meaningful employment. This hour webinar will explore the needs of individuals with stigmatized convictions including violent felonies and sex-based crimes.

Key Learning Objectives Include:

  • A review of potential bias from community members and staff
  • Understanding the Sex Offender registry and basic vocabulary around this population
  • Guidance on engaging employers and developing job opportunities.

This webinar is ideal for frontline staff, case workers and community organizations looking to train and hire individuals with a justice involved history. There will be an opportunity for Q&A with the experts to support the learning.
