National Capital Region Entrepreneurs Forum Luncheon with Christopher Hertz

Christopher Hertz

“Providing great customer service is what gets us out of bed in the morning.”

That’s the headline on New Signature’s webpage, and for good reason.  Founded in 2003 by Christopher Hertz, New Signature’s culture is an extension of Chris’s personal philosophy of customer service:  holding on to great customers is achieved through great customer service.  That philosophy has led to a company that has had an average annual growth rate of 56%, has achieved close to $10M in revenue, and has close to 80 employees.  The consummate serial entrepreneur, Chris also founded Barrel of Jobs this year to transform the recruiting and job-hunting industries.

New Signature is a DC-based IT consulting firm that is dedicated to delivering an amazing customer experience.   Barrel of Jobs is a turnkey employee recruiting solution that helps companies find better candidates faster.  The company does this through an innovative approach to harnessing the power of social networking.

Under Chris’s leadership, New Signature earned the following awards:

  • 2012 Microsoft East Region SMB Cloud Partner of the Year;
  • 2012 Microsoft Citizenship Opportunities for Youth Partner of the Year Award;
  • 2012 Microsoft Windows Intune Partner of the Year Award;
  • 2012 and 2011 Inc. 5000 list of fastest growing companies in America;
  • 2012 Helios Apollo Award for excellence in employee professional development;
  • 2012 SmartCEO100 Best-Run Company;
  • 2012 and 2011 CRN Next-Gen 250 List of innovative and nimble technology integrators;
  • 2012 and 2011 CRN Fast Growth 50 Up and Coming List of fastest growing IT providers;
  • 2010 National Capital Business Ethics Award; and
  • 62 interactive media awards in past three years, including top honors at the Webby Awards.
Chris himself was named the 2012 Small Business Person of the Year by the DC Chamber of Commerce,.  He also received the Pete Kuchli Urban Empowerment Award from YearUp National Capital Region in 2011.

Christopher serves on the Microsoft Office 365 / Intune Partner Advisory Council, the Advisory Board for UBM's Best of Breed Conference, and as an Associate Judge for the Annual Webby Awards.   He was also a member of the NFTE 2012 Gala Host Committee and Washington SmartCEO 2012 Volt Awards Nominating Committee.

Christopher holds a Master of Business Administration degree from the MIT Sloan School of Management and a Bachelor of Science degree with a double major in Information Management and Technology and Anthropology from Syracuse University.  He lives with his wife in Bethesda.
