National Capital Region Entrepreneurs Forum Luncheon with Neil Simons

Neil Simons

Join top entrepreneurs from around the region on Tuesday, July 24th, as we welcome Neil Simons, the President and Founder of Independent Benefit Services, as our next speaker!  For the past 23 years he has served as its only President and has grown the company into a respected leader in each of his company's practice areas: Health & Wellness, Retirement Plans, Executive Benefits, and HR Outsourcing.

Beginning in 1997 and continuing through 2011, Neil not only qualified for the National Association of Health Underwriters (NAHU) highest honor, The Golden Eagle Award, but achieved lifetime and qualified status as well.  In 2002, Independent Benefit Services became a charter member of United Benefit Advisors (UBA).  UBA is an alliance of the nation’s premier independent benefit advisory firms and has consistency landed in the top five benefit organizations in the nation.  From the outset, Neil has been very active in UBA and served four years on their Board of Directors.  In addition to his day to day responsibilities, Neil is frequently asked to speak to CPA groups, Chambers of Commerce and other HR associations.

Neil grew up in Rockville, MD, attended Clemson University on a baseball scholarship and graduated in 1980 with a Bachelor of Science in Administrative Management.  Following his senior year Neil was drafted by the Houston Astros and played four years of professional baseball in both the Astros and the New York Yankees systems.  In 1997, Neil received his alma mater’s highest athletic honor when he was inducted into Clemson University’s Athletic Hall of Fame.  For the past 7 years Neil has fed his passion for baseball by serving as an assistant coach at Sherwood High where they’ve won two state championships out of three final four appearances.

Neil is supported by his beautiful wife of 25 years, Fran, who is a prominent artisan known for her furniture and jewelry making skills.  He also has two college boys, Zachary, a senior at the University of Alabama in Tucsaloosa and David, a sophomore at Dad’s alma mater Clemson.
