Youth-driven change 

The Social Justice Fund for Ventura County (SJF) empowers people to organize and create long-term changes by investing in grassroots organizations that work to expand the opportunities for those with the least educational, economic, social or political resources.

Every year, SJF hostess bus tours to provide a unique opportunity for social justice supporters to explore in depth the social justice issues in Ventura County and to see firsthand the impact of your financial contributions to SJF.  

This year’s tour, “Youth Driven Change” will educate our guest on the importance and need of youth advocacy in the county. For the last couple of years, SJF has invested in youth-led projects and this year we want to have deeper conversations with grantees. What are the results? What strategies were used to accomplish the project? Where assistance is still needed?  

Participants will visit several organizations in the county and experience interacting with different organizations and community members. SJF’s priority is to invest in youth, because it brings the highest possible return in every society. Return comes in multiple cost saving such as cost to criminal justice system, cost to victims of crimes, welfare payment, higher tax, greater earning, etc. The inability to invest in children causes disinvestment and its long term loss is inevitable.

Social Justice Fund’s Bus Tours are designed to spotlight community organizations that are making a positive difference in our corner of the world. On this tour, you will be able to engage in dialogue with community organizers who are bringing together a stronger foundation for our future generations as well as other community allies to gain more of an understanding of youth advocacy.
