On a crisp autumn evening, history will be made once again as you and other honored guests gather in the heart of America's birthplace for a festive night of reflection, revelry and honors.

Both a celebration and a commemoration, our Gala will take place along 3rd Street, between Chestnut and Walnut Streets. The celebration includes cocktails and dinner and opportunities to tour The First Bank of the United States, a building that has not been open to the public in over 20 years. The Friends of Independence, with Park Superintendent Cynthia MacLeod, will be saluting Addie-Lou and Hobie Cawood – two of the people most instrumental in preserving and enhancing Independence National Historical Park.

Addie-Lou was one of the founding members of the Friends in 1972. Hobie Cawood, in 1971, accepted the challenge of managing this national park and creating an unforgettable visitor experience. He retired in 1991 as the longest-serving superintendent in the Park’s history to date.

Rarely has an event like this been held within the Park itself. But, for one October night, history will be made again for those fortunate enough to participate. We will celebrate.
