In response to a 2012 Sowing Seeds grant proposal from the Canons of the Province, a task force on cultural competency and multicultural awareness started monthlky meetings in fall 2013. We are convinced that we need to help one another gain competency in understanding and celebrating difference. This requires both compelling content and skillful facilitation.
The Canons and Task Force members agreed that instead of developing another curriculum, we would focus on enhancing our facilitation skills and tap the myriad of curriculum that already existed. To that end, Province I will offer facilitator training workshops at Barbara C Harris Camp and Conference Center on November 19-20 and April 22-23.
This 1.5 day facilitators training encourages discussion of difference, leads toward understanding of oppression of many kinds, and promotes racial reconciliation.
The Bishops and Canons of each of the seven New England dioceses have been invited to nominate participants. The Province is also accepting individual applications. A Prov 1 Sowing Seeds of God's Mission grant will cover lodging, meals and program costs; Participants only cost will be time & transportation.

This training is part of a multi-faceted approach to address racism and celebrate diversity.
