Revive your commitment to civility! All are warmly invited to Civility Matters: Building An Immune System for Our Country hosted by the Door County Civility Project and Write On, Door County.  Hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar will be available.

The program will feature Dr. Kay Collier McLaughlin, who spoke with The Door County Civility Project in 2018 on her book Talking Together: Getting Beyond Polarization Through Civil Dialogue. This April, Dr. McLaughlin will speak about the ways Talking Together is building on that work, including a focus on building an immune system for the country to combat the hatred in our culture and world, creative response to the challenge, including local singers joining Collier McLaughlin to introduce pieces from her new Talking - Together inspired musical, “The Love Umbrella and Rubber Band Me,” and the Talking Together Challenge.

Collier McLaughlin continues her work across the country as a consultant guiding organizations in leading and succeeding with civility . Her new book, a collection of essays on the current cultural and civil unrest which were written for the Lexington Herald Leader during her year as a Community Columnist and continuing on her Facebook Page, “The Crazy Bird Sings On” is entitled “Hope in the Darkness” and will be available Fall 2019.  Dr. McLaughlin’s books will be available at $20, cash or check.

A suggested contribution of $20 is greatly appreciated.

Write On, Door County will host a free follow-up conversation on this topic on Thursday, April 18, 1-3 pm in their residence facility at 4177 Juddville Rd, Fish Creek. Additional information about Write On, Door County can be found at WriteOnDoorCounty.org.
