About our speakers
Jelena Simjanovic is the EU CCS Network Project Manager with the Global CCS Institute. Jelena manages the European CCS knowledge-sharing platform and a team that researches and analyses technical, financial and policy questions related to the development of large-scale CCS demonstration projects.
Prior to joining the Institute Jelena was with Thomson Reuters Point Carbon where she managed the company’s work on emerging carbon and energy markets. In the past 10 years Jelena consulted on a wide range of energy issues ranging from carbon market design, energy efficiency, renewable energy etc. with agencies such as the World Bank, UN, California Attorney General’s office. She also co-authored a book on the Role of Distributed Power Systems in the US published by the Brookings Institution.
Fluent in four languages, Jelena holds a Master of Science in Energy & Resources and Master of Public Policy degrees from University of California in Berkeley where she also specialized in Management of Technology and Engineering and Business for Sustainability. Finally, Jelena also holds a Master of Arts degree in Japanese language and literature and in free time is a certified Zumba Fitness Instructor.
