Demographic surveys show that 15-20% of the total U.S. population of LGBTQ individuals, between 3 million and 4 million people, live outside major cities and urban areas. These LGBTQ individuals living in rural communities face unique structural challenges, particularly within the legal system. This presentation is targeted to attorneys living and working in the more rural areas of Colorado and will help those attorneys identify the unique challenges faced by LGBTQ individuals in these communities. The presentation will provide guidance and practical tips on how you can best represent LGBTQ clients, interact with LGBTQ people in and out of the courtroom, and ensure equal access to the justice system.
