Mr. Probst is a Biomechanist specializing in the study of the forces and mechanics associated with human injury. He applies this work to all segments of the human body involved in collisions and other impact-producing events.
Dr. Amanda Stone, Ph.D.
Dr. Stone is a Senior Biomechanist specializing in injury biomechanics. Dr. Stone has firsthand experience through her focus on injury mechanisms and associated injury tolerances, a process of analyzing the kinematics and kinetics of the human body during a specific event. She also has prior experience conducting research on ACL injury and running biomechanics.
ARCCA, Inc. will present a background on liability related to motor vehicle incidents, as well as slips, trips, and falls,. Topics covered will include injury biomechanics, incident severity, and human factors. Injury biomechanics research uses the principles of mechanics to explore the mechanisms of physical and physiologic responses to mechanical forces. Injury is caused by penetrating or nonpenetrating blows to the body, and the energy delivered and the area of contact are important determinants of the results. A mechanism of injury involves the mechanical deformations and physiologic responses that cause an anatomic lesion or functional change. Furthermore, the severity of a motor vehicle impact depends not only on the velocity of the collision that produces it, but also on the shapes of the colliding objects and their rigidity. Case studies involving motor vehicle collisions, as well as slips, trips, and falls in a variety of environments, will also be discussed.
