Denver District Court Judge Madden will present on techniques and skills to appropriately prepare for and take a deposition.  Judge Madden will discuss the discovery advantages and limitations of depositions, and issues to consider when preparing for a deposition.  Judge Madden will also explain deposition objections, why the objections differ from those at trial, when and why objections should be made during the deposition, and how to respond to objections.  Judge Madden will also discuss the pitfalls regarding an instruction to a witness to not to answer a question, and how that instruction can affect lawyers on both sides.   Last, Judge Madden will discuss the problems he commonly sees when attorneys try to use deposition transcripts at trial, and he will provide information about how to avoid those problems.
