The CDLA Communications Committee will give information on social media basics for lawyers, including a step-by-step demonstration of creating a user account and explanation of the key differences in social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.  Handles, hashtags, and Twitterverse will be explored and explained!

After the how-to demonstration, Amy DeVan, former executive director of the Colorado Independent Ethics Commission and former Assistant Regulation Counsel with the Office of Attorney Regulation, will provide advice on how lawyers can use social media in their personal and professional lives while being mindful of ethical considerations and the rules of professional conduct.

Discussion topics will include the use of social media for marketing, potential ethical pitfalls of having a social media presence, and privacy concerns.  Questions will be answered, selfies will be mastered and Snapchat filters may make an appearance!
