The regulatory, medical, and legal standards for health care practitioners prescribing opioids for pain have undergone dramatic change. This one hour CLE addresses the new laws and agency policies governing the prescribing of opioids for pain by Colorado physicians, pharmacists, dentists, and other health care practitioners.
The course will be presented by Linda Siderius, Thomas Kresl and David Ginosar, M.D.
Ms. Siderius is partner in the firm of Caplan & Earnest, L.L.C. Mr. Kresl is the owner of Kresl & Johnson, P.C. Both Ms. Siderius and Mr. Kresl have extensive experience in representing health care practioners who prescribe opioids in their health care practices.
Dr. Ginosar is an internist specializing in pain management at Denver Health who is integrally involved in developing the pain management guidelines to be used in treating thousands of chronic pain patients in Denver. The course will discuss the new Colorado Quad Opioid Board Policies and address requirements and recommendations for opioid prescribers. Additionally the numerous changes to the Colorado Prescription Drug Monitoring Program will be discussed. Suggestions for implementing and complying with these new laws and agency policies will be provided.
