Would you like to communicate in a way that motivates performance and delivers results?

Would you like to be able to work through disagreements and conflict and end with a way forward?

We learn to communicate as children, and we develop our style of communicating in our families, in school and with friends. Our styles evolve from “what works” with both those in charge and with people with less power than we have. By the time we hit the workplace, our communication style is pretty well solidified. However, our styles of communicating don’t always motivate performance. In many cases, it does the opposite, leaving us confused about how to communicate more effectively or that the other person is just being difficult. It is possible to communicate in a way that we achieve the outcomes we desire with a lot less drama and conflict.

Good communication skills are a plus, especially when your communication style is clear, motivating and improves relationships. This workshop is for anyone wanting to develop a clearer understanding of how your communication style impacts your listeners and their behaviors.  It is especially helpful for team leaders, managers, and aspiring managers who want to produce results and reduce conflicts through their communications.

What you will learn in this workshop:

  • The four key ingredients to motivating people
  • How to actively listen and check for commitment
  • How to effectively motivate performance in the workplace
  • How to give feedback when work is completed as requested or not
  • How to work through disagreements, high emotions and conflict

Presenter: Dan Collier has more than 20 years of hands-on leadership experience in the communications, financial and document management industries. He is skilled in talent and organization needs assessment, and has built global training programs, led enterprise-wide improvement initiatives and coached executive leadership in vision and strategy clarification. Dan believes that business performance improvement is achieved by aligning people with process, systems and technology.
