Many Thousands Gone: Using Primary Sources to Teach about Slavery in the Hudson Valley

Susan Stessin-Cohn, New Paltz town historian and former education professor, will share her knowledge of slavery in the Valley emphasizing the use of primary sources, such as run-away slave notices, from the 18th and early 19th centuries. She also will sample activities designed to help students understand how slavery was embedded in everyday life.
