New York Learning Adventures & Home Schooling (N.Y.L.A.H.S.) is a newly formed non-profit organization that seeks to form collaborations with cultural institutions, educational institutions, and leading learning centers. We believe exposure to such experiences reinforces the value of being life long learners. It is our goal to create quality educational opportunities for the home-schooling community. Programs that will complement all home-schooling modalities. Visit Prospect Park Zoo.

.

I am happy to announce…..Prospect Park Zoo is currently offering an Animal Science program for the home-schooling community.  Your participation will help to form a lasting collaboration with the Prospect Park Zoo.

This will be a wonderful adventure in animal science for grades K-5. If you are interested in programs for older children please contact the coordinator of this event Sounji Morgan via email nylahslink@gmail.com. We would like to work towards accomadating all students who are interested in animal science.

The two classes that are currently offered are; K-2nd grade meeting 10am to 10:45am and 3rd-5th grade meeting from 11:30am to 12:30pm. The classes will meet for eight Mondays in the fall and eight Mondays in the spring.  This learning adventure will include a self guided tour and a classroom learning experience.  The Prospect Park Zoo has designed a curriculum in cosideration of New York Board of Education Science standards. Classes are taught by zoo educators in an engaging and age appropriate style.

Classes will meet at Prospect Park Zoo's Discovery Center. Please arrive fifteen minutes before the scheduled class time. Dress according to the weather, be prepared with note taking material, and bring lunch. You may also want to bring a camera however it is not requiered. This is a drop off class.  Please check box next to volunteer on the registration application if you wish to volunteer.  Your request to volunteer does not insure a place. However we will try our best to accommodate everyone.
