Calming the Chaos: Using What We Know About Trauma to Guide De-escalation

Tuesday, August 10, 2021

2:00 p.m.- 3:30 p.m. EST

When we understand how toxic stress impacts brain and body chemistry, we can choose de-escalation strategies that will help to restore safety and collaboration. This training provides psychoeducation about trauma, and it primarily focuses on practical trauma-informed de-escalation techniques, including strategies for managing our own stress responses when supporting those who are in crisis.

Trainer: Amber Blackston-Balogh is a Licensed Independent Social Worker-Supervisor who has worked in the clinical field for over ten years. She specializes in working with children, adolescents, and families who have been impacted by complex trauma, and she provides trainings about trauma and resilience to local schools and community partners. She currently supervises the youth trauma-related treatment programs at Crossroads Health in Mentor, Ohio.
