Children's
Education/Therapy

Session

During the conference, we will be offering a Children's Education/Therapy Session for children with epilepsy, siblings of children with epilepsy and children who have a parent with epilepsy while the parents are attending the general session.

The morning therapy session will be Studio E: The Epilepsy Art Therapy Program and will help children work their emotion, anxiety and stress through art.  Studio E provides children an opportunity to express emotions through fun and engaging activities.  It builds a sense of community and connection, gives a voice to kids with epilepsy and helps kids connect with other kids their age who also experience epilepsy. Studio E is a program in partnership with the Epilepsy Foundation of America and Lundbeck.

The afternoon educational session will be hands-on science activities with the Science Center of Iowa’s outreach team, which will include the following programs: From Rocks to Gemstones and Enter the Universe with the portable planetarium!  The Science Center of Iowa engages and inspires Iowans along their journey of lifelong science learning.

  • The cost is $10/child to attend.
  • Spot is not confirmed until payment is received.
  • The program is not a childcare program, but an educational therapy program for children with epilepsy, siblings of children with epilepsy and children who have a parent with epilepsy.
  • The program will run simultaneously with the conference and is at the same location.
  • The program will be for ages 4-12.  Will accept children over the age of 12 if they are a good fit with the younger children in the program.
  • The adult to child ratio will be 1:5.  A caregiver may accompany your child if they need one-on-one assistance.
  • Parents will be responsible for their children during lunch.
  • Limited to first 25 children registered
  • Additional Studio E paperwork required
