Justine Thompson Cowan, Esq., is the owner of Cowan Consulting for Nonprofits which provides strategic and legal solutions to help nonprofits grow and thrive.  Justine provides practical advice to nonprofit organizations on laws related to corporate governance, regulatory compliance, tax exampt status, conflicts of interet, fundraising, human resources, lobbying, and more. Justine has over 20 years of experience in the public interest sector where she has served in a variety of leadership roles for local, state and national nonprofit organizations.  For 13 years, she served as Executive Director of Atlanta-based GreenLaw, where she provided legal and strategic counsel to nonprofit organizations while also raising over $5 million for environmental and social justice causes.  Drawing upon these experiences, Justine counsels nonprofits on board recruitment and development, fundraising fundamentals, transition management, strategic planning and more.
