Pink Therapy's Seventh International Summer School

Aimed primarily at psychologists, psychotherapists and sexologists, and those in training. We also welcome people who offer emotional support to LGBT individuals and communities through NGO's who are working abroad; this five day intensive training programme offers an opportunity to:

- learn more about a range of gender and sexual diverse identities
- become more aware of how our own prejudices, beliefs and assumptions can affect the therapeutic encounter
- explore the power dynamics and complexity of intersecting identities in the LGBT communities
- share and explore the experiences of gender and sexual diversities in your own country
- learn more about specific issues: internalised oppression, shame, hypervigilance and coming out.

Pink Therapy is the UK's leading independent specialist therapy organisation working with gender and sexual diversities. For some years now we have been committed to raising the quality of psychological and emotional support for LGBT people around the world. In addition to providing our summer school we have also translated some papers by a team of 'dedicated volunteers' into most of the world's major languages.

We would like to invite you to participate in this international training event, providing what we see as essential training for all therapists who are working with gender and sexual diversity clients. There will be extensive guided pre-course and post-course reading which is optional but encouraged.

Fees
Non-UK therapists £550. Early bird discount applies if you book before 11 June  = £500
UK therapists  £650. Early bird discount applies if you book before 11 June = £500

The course leaders Pam Gawler-Wright and Olivier Cormier-Otaño will be facilitatiing every morning and some afternoons whilst guest lecturers from our team of clinical associates will join the group in the afternoon. The team of trainers work on reduced fees to allow this course to be low cost and accommodate the two bursaries.

Pink Therapy reserves the right to amend, change or cancel workshops or trainers at its own discretion due to circumstances beyond our control.

This course is non-residential but we can try and recommend low-cost accommodation for participants.

The course is aimed primarily at therapists working overseas but we are also open to UK therapists attending.

Applicants must be fluent in English (as a lot of pre- and post-course reading and all the teaching will be in English). The course is based in North London (Holloway/Finsbury Park).

If required we can supply a confirmation letter to assist your application for a visa. This doesn't guarantee you will be able to get a visa and seems very dependent on the whim of the UK Border Agency if you are in a non-EU country.  If you book and are declined for Visa, we will refund your fee in full, so long as you apply early. Contact us if you are concerned about Visa issues.

Quotes from previous students:

This is the first training course I've attended in a long time where I really learnt something new. An extremely well organised course with a great deal of supporting material. The experiential learning was particularly helpful.

An excellent, well prepared and presented course concerning essential aspects of this important subject. Informative, engaging, thought provoking and professional.

Very useful. High standard and have provoked much further thought and possibilities to explore. I feel I have learnt a huge amount.
