Founder & CEO of Happiness 1st Institute

“Burnout:  Prevention and Recovery,

Resilience and Retention"

  • Strategies that develop and reinforce an internal locus of control
  •  Understand factors that have a major significant influence on the development of burnout and ways to avoid de-motivating your employees and to motivate yourself
  • Practical information that helps you understand more about how your brain processes information and how to make sure it is working for, not against, your highest good

Dr. Jeanine Joy, Ph.D. is an author, international speaker, Founder and CEO of Happiness 1st. Dr. Joy followed a non-traditional path to mastering the knowledge she shares by pursuing a passionate interest with determination for more than two decades. Happiness 1st Institute approaches employee engagement, change management, positivity training, resilience building, intrinsic motivation and stress reduction at the root cause level. Work begins by helping participants see that negativity—regardless of the reason—harms the person who is feeling negative emotion. Many factors contribute to burnout on both individual and organizational levels. As a leader, how do you know if your decisions will be inspiring or de-motivating? How important is autonomy in work? As an individual, which strategy should you use to prevent personal burnout? What is emotion regulation and how do you use it? Dr. Joy is the author of eight books, including several that focus on topics related to burnout including Burnout: Prevention and Recovery, Resilience and Retention, Harness the Power of Resilience, and Prevent Suicide: The Smart Way. Her evidence-based, experience-informed strategies integrate many scientific disciplines including emotion regulation, motivation, organizational behavior, positive psychology, organizational behavior, teams, resilience, self-determination, and self-control. She delights in and focuses on making complex subjects simple to understand. Her goal is for leaders to enjoy inspired employees by embracing employee engagement, culture transformation, burnout prevention and recovery, and wellness strategies based on the latest positive psychology, motivation and human thriving research.
