Artist Award Ceremony and Reception

All participating artists are encouraged to attend the reception on Wednesday, July 9    from 5 - 7:30 pm.

The Awards Ceremony will be at 7 pm.

2014 Placer Artists League

Open Juried Show

The Placer Artists League invites artists to participate in its annual Fine Arts Competition and Exhibition at the Art Center of Lincoln.  This show is open to all artists and will be juried by Margot Schulzke.

Eligibility and Requirements

  • Limited to 3 entries per artist
  • Size Limit - Framed pieces no more than 32" x 32"  (includes frame) and the footprint of 3-D sculptures no larger than 24" x 24"
  • Weight limit - Sculptures limited to 50 lbs and hanging artwork limited to 20 lbs
  • All artwork must be original - no reproductions or giclees
  • Artwork must be ready to hang (no saw tooth hangers) or balanced to stand
  • All artwork must be clearly labeled with artist's name, address, phone number, email address, title of work, medium and sales price, if applicable
  • Artwork must have been completed within the last three years and not exhibited in a prior PAL Open Juried Show
  • Artwork must be displayed for the duration of the show
  • If unaccepted artwork is not picked up by the artist by end of day on July 1 or accepted artwork is not picked up by end of day on August 4, then PAL will charge the artist $5 per day
  • Artwork can be 2- or 3-dimensional including jewelry and photography
  • 10% sales commission to Placer Artists League for any artwork sold
  • When pricing artwork, artist should include sales tax (7.5%) in the sales price of piece.    It is acceptable to list artwork as NFS.
  • Placer Artists League and the Art Center of Lincoln will take the greatest possible care of all artwork, although we will not be responsible for loss or damage of any work.  Artists are responsible for their own insurance.
  • There will be 7 categories:  (1) Oil (2) Acrylic (3) Watercolor (4) Pastel (5) 3-D Sculpture and Jewelry   (6) Photography including Digital Photography  (7) Mixed Media and Other Media (i.e., fiber art, pencil or charcoal drawings, print making, etc).

Entry Fees  (non-refundable)

$20 for one entry; $30 for two entries and $40 for 3 entries.

Awards

Awards will be presented for the Best of Show, as well as the First, Second, Third and Honorable Mention within each of the categories.  Also a People's Choice will be recognized by certificate at the end of the show.

More about our Juror

Margot Schulzke's name and her work are well known coast to coast.  As author of A Painter's Guide to Design and Composition (North Light) and longtime columnist for The Pastel Journal, she is widely regarded as an authority on the subject of composition and design.  A PSWC Pastel Laureate and signature member of PSA, her work has been featured in a number of books and articles.

Margot has judged numerous exhibitions, both national and regional, over a period of twenty-five years.  Among those are Bold Expressions at the Sacramento Fine Arts Center, Pastels USA at Haggin Museum, The Pastel Journal 100,  Emerald Art Center Open in Euguene, OR.
