Join OMWD for a free workshop that will cover the fundamentals of landscaping for fire protection on Wednesday, October 18 from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m at the Elfin Forest Recreational Reserve's Interpretive Center Honoring Susan J. Varty.
In addition to providing fire protection benefits, fire-smart landscapes that include climate-appropriate plants and native plants require significantly less water for irrigation than traditional, turf-heavy landscapes.
This free workshop will be taught by Greg Rubin, local native plant expert and author, and will cover the basic principles of landscape zoning and hydration, with an overview of plant selection, installation, watering, and maintenance. Workshop attendees will learn about protecting their homes from fires while reducing water used for irrigation by installing fire-resistive landscapes.
Registration is required for this free event. Registered attendees will automatically be entered into a raffle for a free gift. Must be present at the workshop to win.
