How To Read Your Blood Work

Why blood work?

Learn how to accurately read your blood work and take back autonomy over your health. In this lecture, we will explore the difference between laboratory versus optimal reference ranges and how a more functional perspective can guide you on making more informed choices. You will learn how to dig deeper and get the most out of your laboratory testing - and this is especially true for those individuals whose blood work does not particularily correlate with how they are actually feeling. There is no pre-requisite for the free lecture – anyone can attend regardless of knowledge base.

Blood work offers a safe and effective way of providing you with objective data about how your body is functioning at a particular moment in time. If read from a functional perspective rather than a pathological perspective it can provide you with a baseline to follow your trajectory towards optimal health or towards disease. It can empower you decision making rather than simply relying on your doctor’s interpretation – which is oftentimes based on the symptom/drug model of treatment.

Topics to be discussed are as follows:

  • what is the difference between the laboratory listed reference range (on your blood work) and an optimal or functional range?
  • how to talk with your physician to obtain the correct blood tests
  • what are the most important biomarkers for heart disease? (HINT – It is NOT cholesterol)
  • what are the most important biomarkers for cancer prevention?
  • what are the most important biomarkers for diabetes prevention?
  • what vitamins should I specifically monitor if I am vegan? vegetarian? or somewhere in between?
  • how to identify if you are really anemic or Vitamin b12 deficient
  • AND MORE...

Each attendee will receive an Optimal Range Biomarker Worksheet.
