CHILDREN'S WRITING WORKSHOP
with Award-Winning Author Jana Laiz 

Our first writing workshop for children, ages 9 to 12, will be held in a reconstructed barn dating from approx. 1794.  We’ll use that lovely old barn as a theme in the stories or poems we will write…  Jana can supply writing prompts or kids can let their imaginations run wild!  Writings can be about how the barn was built or something magical or special that happened in it -- maybe a mystery adventure, or a story about a family from olden times…  We’ll see what happens as we write!

Writers will be encouraged to display their writings in the barn for visitors to enjoy at our special weekend exhibit on August 23-24 of barn photography by adults and children; the stories and/or poems that your children produce in this workshop; as well, as a special PowerPoint presentation on Sunday by Cynthia Falk on “The Barns of New York: Rural Architecture of the Empire State.”
