Peter J. Gilbert, Esquire and the Highpoint Institute Present:

From Band-Aids to Brain Surgery:  Asset Protection and Long Term Care Planning for your Clients

Several years ago, an attorney colleague of mine in Connecticut had a client who was a successful real estate developer. The man became a friend as well as a client, and both friends enjoyed the growth of their respective businesses. Then came the 1986 Tax Act - and the bottom fell out of the real estate market almost overnight. The friend was left on the hook for millions in business loans, which of course he and his wife had personally guaranteed. The lawyer was devastated: not only to see his friend and his family fall on such hard times, but even more so because there was nothing he could do to help them, except to a bankruptcy attorney.  My attorney friend resolved that he will now go the extra mile for his clients, by protecting them from such misfortune.

We’d like to help you help your friends and clients, too. Come to the HighPoint Institute on May 9th, where you’ll learn:

  • The Asset Protection “Ladder of Success”
  •  How Asset Protection strategies can reduce taxes and improve estate planning
  •  Pointers on what level of planning suits your clients
  •  How you can go “the extra mile” for your clients

Our second session on May 9th is a fast-paced study of “Advanced Long-Term Care Planning for Baby Boomers: Strategies and Techniques”:

Starting with the Three Key Strategies, this course will get into the details of the 17 (or more) Tactics available to your clients to make sure that Long-term care needs don’t ruin the great retirement planning you did for them. You don’t want to sit by helplessly while their health expenses destroy their retirement.

The course assumes you know the essentials of long-term care insurance and the use of trusts, and that you’re open to a wide spectrum of solutions when it comes to long-term care.

This course will be a guided discussion of the available tools and techniques, so your suggestions and experiences will be welcome, as time permits.

We will also work on a collaborative process for designing and implementing Senior Estate Plans
