PNW CPCU August Virtual Luncheon

Invited: CPCUs and co-workers, etc. to join us to discuss Self-Driving Cars:  Ethical Choices and Liability Implications of Programming     

Speakers: Tim Fletcher, James Jones, Harold Weston         

We will be joined by Tim Fletcher (VP – Emerging Issues – Gen Re), Harold A. Weston (Clinical Associate Professor and Secondary Appointment in the College of Law, Risk Management, and Insurance), and James R. Jones (Executive Director, Center for Risk Management, Insurance, and Financial Services.  They will be bringing us up to speed on the impact technology is having on the world of auto insurance.  Our discussion will address the liability shift from car owners to car manufacturers and our legal system lag in creating related laws & regulations.  The ethics around underwriting these exposures will be also be explored. 

1 hr CE Credit Available: Course Number 625653 (this is not an ethics credit).   Please note, in order to recieve course credit you must participate in the polling questions during the meeting. 

 

Speaker Bio's

Tim Fletcher, Vice President, Senior Emerging Issues Specialist at Gen Re

Tim Fletcher is the Emerging Issues Leader for Gen Re. Based in Atlanta, Tim identifies and communicates emerging issues and exposures to Gen Re clients and internal colleagues. In this role, Tim serves as a strategic thought partner with clients in creating underwriting responses to those issues and exposures.

Jim Jones, Executive Director-Katie school, Illinois State University 

Teaching business professionals and college students and developing curriculum for executive programs. Received award for innovation in teaching. Strickler award 2007.
12 years management experience, consulting on business performance
Executive coaching and Leadership Development (Certification in Executive Coaching 2004)Board Member. Served on Boards of CPCU Society, Insurance Education Institute, Griffith Foundation for Insurance Education.

Harold Weston, Clinical Associate Professor College of Law Risk Management and Insurance

Harold Weston is a member of the California and Georgia Bar Associations and holds CPCU, RPLU and ARM designations.  Prior to joining the faculty, Professor Weston was engaged in private and corporate legal practice, and as a consultant on insurance and risk managment. He advised and litigated almost all aspects of insurance coverage and "bad faith" cases, through appeals. He also serves on the CLEW (Coverage, Litigators, Educators, Witnesses) Interest group and is past president of the Atlanta CPCU Society Chapter.
