The Latest Dental Materials & How To Use Them
John Burgess, DDS

This clinically oriented discussion compares traditional to newly developed dental restorative materials so you can improve your restorative materials selection process. This course is designed to demonstrate which materials work, where they are successful, and what techniques are used to handle many of your everyday clinical problems. Learn how effective universal adhesives are with resin restorations and how to apply them in a step by step sequence. See what silver diamine fluoride is and how useful it can be in your practice. Learn proven techniques for placing glass ionomer restoratives and how to maintain these esthetic restorations. Are ion-releasing (bioactive materials) clinically useful? Which zirconia should be used in what clinical situation? This presentation includes a review of new ceramic materials and step by step methods for bonding or cementing these esthetic restorations. You will discover useful results from many clinical trials and laboratory studies which will be presented and discussed to illustrate when and where different restorative materials should be used to maximize their clinical success. Learn to overcome endodontic post failures with a successful bonding system.

Restoring Endodontically Treated Teeth
- Learn which composite fiber post will cure resin cement to the end of the post.
- Understand failure mechanisms of endodontically treated teeth and how to prevent those failures.
- Is cuspal coverage needed for all endodontically treated teeth?
- Is the endo crown successful?  How about biologic width infringement?

Adhesives
- Learn which adhesives are most effective with ceramic and resin restorations and how to apply them in a step by step sequence to improve clinical success.
- Are universal adhesives for you?  Which ones produce the most effective clinical results?
- Discover how to eliminate the cold sensitivity in teeth after restorative procedures.

Ceramic and Cement Selection
- Select the proper adhesive technique and material to avoid sensitivity.
- See easily applied step by step bonding procedures for ceramic cementation.
- Plan the proper cementation or bonding technique that is most effective for your patient.
- Learn what cement is best with every ceramic and when to bond or cement.
- Choose between self-etching, self-adhesive and total etch resin cements and which materials can be used most successfully in each clinical application.

Treating the High Caries Risk Patient or Maintaining the Restored Dentition for the High Caries Patient
- Protect your investment - use aggressive treatment for the three types of high caries risk adult patients.
- Understand caries risk and how to sort patients and treat patients with this classification.
- Learn to use six treatments (Fluoride, MI Paste One, pH elevators, xylitol, silver diamine fluoride, and ion-releasing [bioactive] restorative materials) to treat these patients effectively.
