Register today to attend IOA's Fall Seminar to be held on Wednesday, October 2, and Thursday, October 3, 2019, at the Indiana Memorial Union in Bloomington, Indiana! This optometric continuing education (CE) event offers fourteen (14) hours of Indiana Optometry Board accepted CE. Approval of courses by states other than Indiana is the responsibility of the attendee. CEE (continuing education with exam) will not be offered at this event.

Description: This course will provide the latest information on retinal vascular diseases, such as diabetic retinopathy DR, hypertensive retinopathy, retinal vascular occlusions, and ocular ischemic syndrome carotid artery disease. Emphasis will be on the latest in diagnostic modalities and therapeutic advances for each retinal disorder. This course will provide attendees with recent developments in the early diagnostic strategies and therapeutic advances of each retinal disorder and discuss integration of these innovations into clinical practice.

OCT Evaluation of the Retina and Optic Nerve

Description: Are you having trouble interpreting your OCT findings in retinal disease and glaucoma? This lecture will start with basic understanding of OCT imaging, then dig deeper to illuminate common interpretation errors and reveal clinical pearls in diagnostics of pathology. Case examples of macular edema, AMD, diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma and non-glaucomatous optic neuropathy will be provided.

Controversies and Consensus in Glaucoma

Description: Have you ever been frustrated by hearing one opinion by a leading speaker or local glaucoma specialist only to hear a far different opinion by another expert? What are the real risk factors for glaucoma? Which test is better for detection of early damage? Which drugs are better for primary and adjunctive treatment of POAG? What can we agree on regarding these controversial issues? In this lecture, we will discuss some controversies in glaucoma diagnosis and management and then review consensus statements on the controversies generated by the World Glaucoma Association and other groups of glaucoma experts.

A Logical Approach to Differential Diagnosis of Peri-orbital Skin Lesions

Description: This course allows the clinician to move beyond mere visual recognition of obvious dermatological lesions to an ability to analyze and properly describe skin lesions as a prerequisite to developing a differential diagnosis approach.

The Rho-Kinase Inhibitors and Glaucoma

Description: This course provides detailed cellular mechanistic explanations for how we believe the newest class of drugs for the treatment of glaucoma actually work to lower IOP. The history of Rho-kinase related glaucoma research is provided, along with results of FDA clinical trials that led to approval of the first drug in this class and the more recent combination of Rho-kinase.

Adaptive Optics OCT of the Retinal Ganglion Cells

Description: New imaging technology developed at IU's optometry laboratory has provided the first 3D view of individual retinal ganglion cells in the living human eye. This talk will explore the use of this exciting technology to spatially map and longitudinally track these cells in normal and glaucomatous subjects.
