The course involves the audience in a series of cases that are both common and rare with special emphasis on therapeutic management. Doctors will learn to treat, manage or timely refer various corneal conditions ranging from infectious and inflammatory disease to corneal dystrophy.

Innovations in Eyecare

Description: This is a fast paced peak into exciting diagnostic and treatment technologies that currently or soon will affect optometry. Technologies range from stem cell and amniotic membrane therapies to point of care diagnostics, new diagnostic devices for imaging, advances in ocular surface disease and advanced refraction technology. Over 65 of patients research ocular conditions on the internet prior to visiting an optometrist and may inquire about these new technologies. This course will ensure you can answer all of their questions.

Description: Allergies are one of the most common conditions treated by optometry. In fact optometry prescribes more topical ophthalmic allergy drops than any other eye care provider. But in the last few years there have been numerous developments, new medications and new understanding of the various allergic eye diseases. This lecture will provide practical clinical pearls to the effective management of seasonal and perennial allergies, giant papillary conjunctivitis (GPC), vernal keratoconjunctivitis (VKC) and atopic keratoconjunctivitis (AKC).
