The Coalition is pleased to announce that members may now bring one non-member guest to the 2015 Fall Member Meeting for free. Coalition members must register their guest and also attend the event.

We hope that this campaign will inspire more individuals to benefit from education offerings and consider joining the Michigan Oral Health Coalition.

CONTINUING EDUCATION

The Michigan Oral Health Coalition is approved by the Michigan Board of Dentistry and Academy of General Dentistry to provide continuing education. The 2015 Fall Member Meeting qualifies for
4.5 hours of CE.

CANCELLATION POLICY

No refunds will be given to those who register but do not attend the Meeting. All cancellations must be made in writing. Received by 5 pm on
October 12: 75% refund. Received after 5 pm on October 12, 2015: No refund. The planners and sponsors of this event reserve the right to substitute speakers without penalty due to unforeseen and/or unavoidable circumstances.

Fiscal Year 2016: News from the State Capitol 
Decisions made in Lansing have a significant impact on all Michigan residents. Senator Hertel will share his perspective and engage attendees in a discussion regarding legislative and budgetary priorities and an outlook for Fiscal Year 2017.

Improving Low-Income Children’s Oral Health Care Access in Los Angeles County through Medical-Dental Collaboration

To increase children’s access to and utilization of dental care, Children Now leads a medical-dental collaboration pilot in Los Angeles County, where 44% of eligible children under 6 had a dental visit. Learn how this pilot program engages medical and dental plans, state agencies and other partners to achieve its goals.

A New State Oral Health Plan: Our Vision for 2020 

Work on the next State Oral Health Plan has begun. Learn where we are in the next steps of our strategic planning process. Your input is valued and important to the development of a strategic plan that will guide oral health advocates, state departments and partners, policy makers, and other stakeholders as we work together to improve oral health in Michigan.

Innovation Theatre  

The Innovation Theatre session provides a platform for visionaries and creative thinkers to communicate ideas worth spreading. Each presentation is conducted in a short timeframe; ensuring only critical components of innovation are shared. In less than eight minutes the speaker must take his project or innovative idea and break it into simple components which impact financing, care delivery, community or policy.

Tobacco 21: Raising the Minimum Age of Legal Access 
to Tobacco Products
Raising the minimum legal sale age for tobacco products to 21 is a promising strategy to reduce smoking and other tobacco use among youth and save lives. A 21 sale age complements other strategies to reduce tobacco use, including higher tobacco taxes, strong smoke-free laws that include all workplaces and public places, and well-funded, sustained tobacco prevention and cessation programs.
