Looking Deeper into Minds of Participants & Connecting the Dots From Equity to Financial Wellness

Presenters:

Emily Cervino, CEP, Vice President - Fidelity Stock Plan Services

Description:

To better understand participants' attitudes and perceptions about their company stock plan, Fidelity surveyed participants around the world on loyalty, motivation, comprehension and other perceptions with regard to their equity programs. Join Emily Cervino, CEP, as she plunges into the inner psyche of participants to share how equity compensation impacts them. You'll learn about participant satisfaction and the drivers that can impact it, while diving into participant knowledge and top priorities. The session will also address how the growing Millennial population differs from other generations in the workforce. And, Emily will discuss how companies can incorporate equity compensation into overall financial wellness initiatives. Together, these findings can help you make your equity programs more effective for your company and your participants.

This presentation will bring you a description of the latest notable changes impacting companies granting equity awards to employees outside the U.S., as well as a discussion of some notoriously difficult topics for global stock plan professionals.

In the first half of the presentation, our speaker will cover the key non-U.S. tax, legal and other regulatory developments affecting equity awards over the past year, such as the relaxed exchange control rules in Argentina, the new qualified RSU regime in France, the impact of Brexit on global share plans and many more.  Hear practical perspectives on how companies have responded to these developments and reactions seen and heard from the global community.

During the second part, we will turn our attention to some continuously problematic issues surrounding equity awards, such as:

  • Treatment of awards held by employees on a leave of absence and the merits of a global leave of absence policy
  • Favorable retirement provisions (based on age or age + service)
  • Tying equity awards to non-complete/non-solicitation/confidentiality covenants
  • The rise of Total Rewards Statements and inclusion of equity awards in TSRs
  • Special tax issues for awards held by terminated employees

Even if you think you have seen it all, we hope you can learn some new tricks during this presentation!
