Miranda Perry Fleischer
Professor Miranda Perry Fleischer is the Herzog Endowed Professor of Law and Co-Director of Tax Programs at the University of San Diego School of Law. She graduated from University of Chicago Law School and holds her LLM in Tax from the New York University School of Law. She teaches federal estate and gift tax, non-profit law, and federal taxation. Before entering academia, Fleischer practiced as an estate planner at Shaw Pittman LLP and as a litigator at the Institute for Justice, a Washington, D.C.-based public interest group, which piqued her interest in charitable giving. She also clerked for Judge Morris Sheppard Arnold of the Eighth Circuit in Little Rock, Arkansas.
She won the University of San Diego Law School’s 2014-15 Thorsnes Prize for Excellence in Teaching, and while teaching at the University of Colorado Law School, won the 2011 Provost's Achievement Award for her article "Theorizing the Charitable Tax Subsidies: The Role of Distributive Justice," published at 87 Washington University Law Review 505 (2010).
Ms. Fleischer is a prolific writer and a frequent presenter at academic conferences.
