The Story of Home
February 22
10 am- 3 pm
Legislative Reception Immediately Following (4 pm- 6 pm)

About the Story of Home
Lunch included

HFH of Colorado will host a one-day training in conjunction with the annual Legislative Event on Wednesday, February 22.  The event will bring together affiliate staff, board members and homeowners to learn about the power of storytelling.  People love stories. More importantly, stories engage emotion which prompts people to respond and take action.  In this program, Ty Bennett teaches the art of storytelling as a key communication and engagement strategy. He provides attendees with the mindset, skill set and toolset to connect effectively through storytelling.

About the Legislative Reception
Wine, beer and appetizers included

Put your yarn-spinning skills to good use as we engage our elected officials over a beer!  This informal reception takes the place of HFHC’s annual luncheon.  Homeowners, staff and volunteers will be on hand to tell the story of home and connect the dots for our legislators through narratives about education, health, and public infrastructure.  This is a great opportunity to connect one-on-one with your representatives and share your passion for affordable homeownership and our vision for Colorado.

About the Keynote Presenter

When Ty was 21 years old, he and his brother Scott started a business in direct sales, which they built to over $20 million in annual revenue while still in their twenties. As a young entrepreneur, Ty continues to engage his team’s focus to grow sales. He has developed over 500 sales managers globally with sales and leadership in 37 countries. In his talks, Ty uses the power of influence and storytelling to provide audiences with tangible techniques that will increase their influence and their impact as leaders and as salespeople.

His clients include some of the most recognizable brands in the world such as: Coca-Cola, Subway, Blue Cross Blue Shield and Remax. Ty has shared the stage with celebrities, Olympians and world-renowned thought leaders such as President Bush and President Clinton.

Ty’s best-selling books – The Power of Influence: Increase Your Income and Personal Impact and The Power of Storytelling: The Art of Influential Communication - are used in graduate courses at multiple universities including MIT, as today’s version of “How to Win Friends and Influence People.”

“I heard a great speaker named Ty Bennett who has written a book called The Power of Storytelling: The Art of Influential Communication.  I consider myself a pretty good storyteller when it comes to Habitat but I learned a ton of stuff that I think is applicable to everyone in the Habitat family.  He would be a fabulous Keynote speaker. He spoke for 2 hours at the event and I could have listened to him for another two.”
