Run or Walk to Benefit
Southern Tier Health Care System will host a 2015 Capes and Crowns 5K/1K Fun Run on Saturday, September 19, at St. Bonaventure University. Runners and walkers are welcome to attend!
Registration begins at 9 am with the 5K race starting at 10am and the 1K fun run at 11am. All participants are asked to wear something that represents their favorite superhero or princess to be eligible to win prizes. This run will benefit Southern Tier Health Care System programs including the Southern Tier Child Advocacy Center, Southern Tier Emergency Medical System (STEMS), Southern Tier Opioid Overdose Prevention Program (STOPP), the Southern Tier Child Health and Safety Team and the Sexual Assault Forensic Examiner (SAFE) program.
Activities will include a Home Depot Kids Workshop, face painting, the YMCA slider, Safe Child IDs, 25 free bike helmets with fitting, and the St. Bonaventure University Safe Teen Coalition's Safety Town. Also, Olean tri-athlete Dana Boser, who survived a 2013 bicycle accident due to an $18 helmet, will be there with his shattered helmet and bicycle to stress the importance of always wearing a bike helmet. Mr. Boser is on a mission to make sure every child and adult wears a helmet whenever they’re on a bike.
Dress to represent your favorite superhero or princess for a chance to win various prizes!
