CAMP: Babysitting Basics Training Course

WHO: 5th grade and older

WHEN: August 2-5, 9:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.  

LOCATION: Washington Co Extension Office

DEADLINE: July 24 (will close earlier if filled)

Join Clover University =  fun + hands-on + learning + science + summer day camp + 4-H  + friends! 

This camp is open to all youth 5th grade and older; no previous 4-H experience required or expected. Scholarship available upon request to amygreen@iastate.edu or call 319-53-4811.  

In preparation to be a better babysitter, come and learn about:

  • The responsibilities of a babysitter
  • What employers expect
  • Caring for infants and young children
  • Age-appropriate toys and activities
  • Safety and how to handle emergencies
  • Basic first aid and rescue breathing

Participants will learn from guest presenters and CHILDREN in action.  Each participant takes home a starter babysitting kit. 

Limited to the first 25 registered.  There are two offerings of this course. The exact same course was offered in June.

Important Clover University Reminders: 

  • Registration assistance available at the Washington County Extension Office 319-653-4811
  • Curriculum is delivered by Washington County Extension & Outreach staff with the assistance of 4-H volunteers. 
  • Scholarships available upon request. 
  • Space is limited!  Minimum of 10 registrations is needed to hold camp.  Maximum of 25 registrations accepted.  You are registered only by completing the form and returning it to Washington County Extension with proper payment.
  • Listen to KCII radio, 106.1FM,  for any weather-related cancellations or changes.
  • An email reminder will be sent regarding camp registration after the registration deadline with reminders of any special directions if an email is provided on the registration form.   
  • Many camp agendas include indoor and outdoor activities.  Dress appropriately for outdoor learning.  Apply sunscreen as you see fit. 
  • No refunds after the June 7 registration deadline.
  • The fees for service will be used to offset direct expenses and to support the 4-H Youth Development Washington County Extension Program.
  • If you/your child requires special accommodations to participate in county fair/4-H events/activities, please complete an Accommodation Request Form available from the Washington County Extension Office no later than 30 days prior to the event or activity.  Submitting a request for accommodation on shorter notice may reduce or limit county extension’s ability to implement the accommodations.
