Wonderland Book Club

Co-sponsored by the NC Writers Network

Join us as we welcome author Edith Edwards, who lives near Holden Beach, North Carolina. We’ll discuss her latest novel, Spy of Brunswick Town, the story of

Mariah Long who, although she realizes the war is lost, continues to spy for the Confederacy. Mariah loves Hawk, a Confederate surgeon whose time on the battlefield has left horrific scars on his soul. Hawk is also often discouraged about the outcome of the war but persists in his duty. Mariah must draw on untapped strength to outwit the Yankees, nurture her love for Hawk, and care for Waddell, a Negro orphan who becomes her charge.

The story is of Mariah’s determination to survive, stay true to her ideals, and make a life for those she loves. Edith loves writing about strong Southern women during the Civil War and Reconstruction. All four of her books feature strong women who fight for their beliefs, families, and way of life.
