Fiction Editing Boot Camp with Alice Osborn
Location: Online Webinar Series (Call numbers for Go To Meeting will be provided upon registration)
Three consecutive Tuesdays: May 15, 22 and 29th from 3-4:15 pm
This intensive workshop series is for editors/writers who are interested in breaking into freelance fiction editing or who want to advance their skills. This is a healthy marketplace for novelists submitting to agents or directly to the marketplace through self publishing--they need editors and this class will teach you how to be a successful freelance fiction editor!
This three-week series will cover the publishing process and will give you confidence with using style guides. We will cover specific editing concerns such as timelines, characters, point of view, revision and more. Also, students will gain more confidence with copyediting, rewriting, logic, flow, voice, point of view, characterization, setting, and more. On the freelance business end, we'll also discuss time management, communication, and other smart business practices. This webinar series will be recorded so you won’t miss the lesson if you cannot make the “live” class. Alice Osborn has her MA in Rhetoric and Composition from NC State, is a former English teacher and current creative writing teacher and is the author of three books of poetry. In addition, she is also the editor an upcoming fiction anthology from Main Street Rag.
