This purpose of this class is to familiarize children with approaches to the creative arts in early childhood education. Students will learn about music, movement, and drama through the wonderful world of make believe and imagination. Student will dress-up in costumes complete with crowns, swords, wands, tiaras, face paint and more. The age appropriate curriculum will include themes and activities based around Broadway Musicals, Improvisation, Re-enacting story books, and Pantomime/mime, Fairy Tales, and Puppet Theater, Vocal projections, Music and Movement and Props.

“Creating 3D Art” (Ages 5-7)
Wednesdays 4:30-5:30 (1/11, 1/18, 1/25, 2/1, 2/8, 2/15, 2/22, 3/1, 3/8, 3/15)

Kids love to work up, work big, work 3 dimensional. This course geared for the younger child will focus on creating 3 Dimensional works of art. From exploring the realistic to the abstract, students will be able to then translate their learning into the creation of various forms of sculptures. Using materials such as wire, wood, recycled objects,and more, students will gain the tools for understanding how these media work and the ability to create art using them.

Take your singing, dancing, and acting skills to the next level and be challenged while having a blast! We will explore a variety of popular styles in musical theater and learn how to capture your audience through song and dance. Everyone will get a chance to shine in high energy small group numbers as well as show-stopping’ ensemble numbers in our dynamic end of semester Showcase!

“A Journey in 2 Dimensional Art“(Ages 8+)
Tuesdays 4:30-5:30 (1/10, 1/17, 1/24, 1/31, 2/7, 2/14, 2/21, 2/28, 3/7, 3/14)

This art class is geared for the older child. Students will explore various styles of art and be introduced to artists from different regions of the world. With a curriculum that has been developed for the older child, participants will gain an appreciation for art, build vocabulary and learn to artistically express opinions. There will be opportunities to create art using easels with pencil, charcoal, pastels, and paint and collage materials. Students will visit an Art Studio to see a working artist in action. A trip to Downtown Freemont Street to explore Urban Art firsthand will be the highlight of this class and a perfect way for your child to discover their creative side.
