Multi Chamber Healthy Anne Arundel Initiative

A new Health Officer has been hired in Anne Arundel County and he is interested in resurrecting the Healthy Anne Arundel Initiative.  It has been ten years since the initiative was in place, and a lot has changed.  Our county is facing an opioid epidemic,  higher rates of suicide, and other issues that were not prevalent a decade ago.

Our Chambers have been invited to meet with the new Health Officer and learn about the Healthy Anne Arundel Program.  The meeting will be held in Annapolis on February 7th and all of us, including our health and wellness practitioners, are invited to attend.  Networking from 9:30 with the program from 10:00 – 11:30am.  The location is the Health Services Building, 3 Harry S. Truman Parkway, Annapolis 21401.

Jennifer Wheeler of New Life Addiction Counseling Services and a member of the Northern AA County Chamber’s Health and Wellness Committee is organizing the meeting with the county.  From Jennifer:

We are bringing together the health and wellness providers from all the AACo Chambers of Commerce. This is to support & participate in the AACo Dept of Health initiative, Healthy Anne Arundel.

Speakers for the morning will be Dr.Nilesh Kalyanaraman and Jennifer Wheeler – how business partners can support their communities and their county health initiatives.

Dr Judy Yu speaking on behalf of Northern AACo H& W committee and Liz League/Jennifer Crisp about the founding of your H&W committee, and how other chambers can  benefit their communities by showcasing their health and wellness providers.

New Life will provide light refreshments (as allowed by the office and health dept)

Dr Nilesh is excited that the business partners are energized to support this initiative.  We need to harness this collective and continue to support making Anne Arundel County the best place to live.

There is no fee to attend, however we want to keep RSVP’s as the meeting space is limited. If we need to move to a larger space to accommodate more, there is that option!
