On Saturday, February 3 from 6 to 9 pm, Pin Point Heritage Museum will host “Art & Oysters,” an exclusive meet and greet with world-renowned artist Jerome Meadows. All funds raised from this event will benefit the annual operations at Pin Point Heritage Museum.

The event will include savory soul food provided by Creative Catering, oysters and premium bar selections for each guest. Meadows’ artwork will also be available for purchase the evening of the event and he will give a brief talk about his artistic inspiration. Entertainment will be provided by Sweetfield of Eden Baptist Church Choir.

Jerome Meadows is a full-time studio artist working and residing in an historic Ice House in Savannah, Georgia. Originally from New York City, he’s been living in Savannah since 1997. A graduate with a BFA degree from the Rhode Island School of Design and an MFA degree from the University of Maryland, Mr. Meadows has been self-employed as a visual artist and public space designer since 1992. His focus in the arts has been in the design and fabrication of large scale public art projects, including site layout, landscape issues, along with the conceptualization and fabrication of sculptural components all fully integrated into a cohesive whole. These projects are located throughout the United States.

His philosophical statement of artistic inspiration states: “Art exists as a causeway between the objective and the subjective; a provocative link between our factual understanding and our fanciful interpretations; a spiritual bridge between life’s day-to-day demands and the sustaining power of ritual and myth. Art transports us from the comparatively limited domain of our mundane obligations into an ever-expanding realm of engaging possibilities-informing, inspiring and elevating us all.”

Art & Oysters is a part of Coastal Heritage Society’s Cultured Coast event series. Cultured Coast events offer an exclusive array of social happenings designed in the spirit of connecting with the community, providing learning opportunities and promoting active participation among the Society's members and the community.
